Enter er our photo contest Whether you're a diehard shutterbug or carry a pointand-shoot, you probably take a camera when you travel. Here's your chance to show off your stuff in The Herald's Snap to It! travel photo contest. Prizes will be awarded to photographers under 18 and those 18 and over, professionals who make the majority of their income from photography are not eligible. The Herald's photo editors will judge photos for the grand prizes: one Canon PowerShot G2 4 Megapixel Digital Camera for the winner in each of the two age categories. The camera allows photographers to shoot photos in color or black-and-white or record video clips with sound.
Features include flash and an internal zoom with 11x magnification. Even if you're not a photographer, you can check out readers' photos online and vote for CONTEST RULES Prizes: Winners will be judged by The Herald's editors. One winner in each of the age categories (under 18, 18 and over) will receive a Canon PowerShot G2 4-Megapixel Digital Camera courtesy of Canon. Readers' Choice winners will be chosen by readers voting online at www.miami.com/photos from finalist pho- your favorites. Each week, we'll post a selection of finalists on our website, www.miami.com/photos.
The photos receiving the most votes in each age category will be deemed Readers' Choice winners; the photographers who shot them will each receive 20 rolls of film. So what will our editors be looking for? Maggie Steber, The Herald's director of photography, describes it thus: "Travel photography is a very ephemeral idea. The photographer has many duties he or she should transport the viewer to a place, giving a sense of what it feels like to be there, how it smells, whether it's cold or hot, and what kinds of things there are to do. Here are some things to keep in mind if you are going through your photo collection or are planning to go out and shoot something for the contest: tos determined by Herald editors. The photos receiving the most votes in each age category (under 18, 18 and over) will be deemed the Readers' Choice winners; the photographers who shot them will each receive 20 rolls of film.
